The Monument to Sir Arthur Acheson in St John's Church of Ireland, Mullaghbrack (Mullabrack) County Armagh, Northern Ireland.

The monument and bust have been attributed to John van Nost III.



The current Church of Ireland church in Mullaghbrack, was largely rebuilt in the 18th and 19th centuries on the site of an earlier structure. Among the earliest monuments in the church is a plaque dated to 1638.

Sir Arthur Acheson, 5th Bt. was born on 26 January 1688 at Markethill, County Armagh, Ireland. He was the son of Sir Nicholas Acheson, 4th Bt. and Anne Taylor.1 He married Anne Savage, daughter of Rt. Hon. Philip Savage and Mary (?), in 1715.1 He died on 8 February 1748/49 at age 61. He was buried at Mullaghbracke, County Armagh, Ireland. His will was proven (by probate) in 1749.

He succeeded as the 5th Baronet Acheson, of Market Hill [in Clonekearney], co. Armagh [N.S., 1628] in 1701.

 He matriculated at Trinity College, Dublin University, Dublin,, on 25 May 1705.1 He graduated from Trinity College, Dublin University, Dublin,, in 1707 with a Bachelor of Arts.  He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Mullingar [Ireland] between 1727 and 1749.

 He held the office of Sheriff of County Armagh in 1728.1 His last will was dated 23 November 1748.
